Available now! 1961 Gibson ES-335

Looking for a true blue-chip vintage guitar from the Golden Age of Gibson electrics? We’re pleased to offer this stunning 1961 Gibson ES-335TD in its original cherry finish.

This exceptional ES-335 was purchased new in 1962 from Johnny Smith Guitar Center in Colorado and has remained remarkably well cared for throughout its life. The guitar is now being sold by the niece of its original owner.

At some point in its history, the original stop bar was removed, the mounting holes were professionally plugged, and the guitar was fitted with a trapeze tailpiece. There are also additional screw holes visible on the bottom, suggesting it may have previously been fitted with another trapeze tailpiece. The original stop bar tailpiece is included with the guitar, and the instrument could easily be returned to its original factory configuration.

Cosmetically, this guitar presents beautifully, with only very light finish checking and virtually no buckle rash or significant scratching. It has clearly been exceptionally well cared for over the years.

The original PAF pickups are still in place, complete with their original factory solder on the covers. The B-string tuner has experienced some button rot and will need to be replaced.

A genuinely special ES-335 with excellent provenance, original PAFs, its original case, and a remarkably clean overall presentation. A fantastic opportunity to own a piece of Gibson’s Golden Age.
