This is easily one of the coolest basses we’ve seen in a long time1
1967 Fender Jazz Bass in Candy Apple Red Sparkle with a Matching Headstock.
We’re calling this one an early ’67, and the dates certainly support that. The neck is dated December ’66, the potentiometers date to the 42nd week of ’66, and one neck pickup is dated 12/30/66. The other pickup is dated 1/5, although the year is indistinguishable.
Here’s where things get interesting: we’ve determined that the bass has been refinished, but the work was done exceptionally well, likely sometime in the 1970s. Under the pickguard, we discovered evidence of the original finish beneath the sparkle undercoat, revealing that this bass originally left the Fender factory in Lake Placid Blue.
The result? An all-original-parts bass with a seriously cool, decades-old sparkle refinish. The kind of finish that turns heads and tells a story.
A true rock star bass with vintage Fender DNA and unmistakable stage presence. You don’t see one of these every day!
Comes with OHSC with duct taped ends. Missing pickup cover and ashtray cover.
